K: On that personnel matter that we discussed today, the President
suggested that you stick with
and advance him to Commandant
with the understanding that he give Cushman the Deputy job in June.
L: I can handle that. Henry, I can handle anything if I get a little time.
K: Can we tell this to Cushman if we tell him to keep quiet about it?
L: Chappy is coming back. I would like to work it out with him.
K: Then we won't say anything to Cushman until you tell us. If we do
it that way then we
L: I will get you dates and everything but let me talk to Chappy first.
He will not be back until the end of the week. We can keep everybody
happy this way.
