afternoon

to
R: You gave me a mission re the invitation to Britain. I have one/ the English
Speaking Union and Pat Dean sent it. The response was sent 15 Jan. and said
he was busy and finishing his book and opening the library and said he couldn't do
it. Nothing from the Primrose League. So that's his attitude that he will not
take off in the spring. He likes Dean and would have been inclined to do it for
him if for anyone.
K: You are terribly nice.
R: If you have a notion to do it, I would like to help. I will persue it and talk with
you if I get anything.
K: When are you coming back?
R: Tomorrow. Giving a speech in a Va. college. Coming back next weekto do
x a program on educational TV with
on the '61 Presidential decision.
Max and I think it would be good today and lett/ people face up to what the issues
were. Agronsky doing it.
K: He is intelligent.
R: Fundamental decision was after Tayler
and Max and I only people
around to do it. I am finishing the chapter of the book on Kennedy era and now
taking that forward from Sputnik to the present. It's a fascinating exercise
because I am using xxxanalytical terms. Quite explicit and using the same
cr iteria for eveyone. I am now in the Johnson period. Writing it objectively.
I am not doing anything funny. I have gone through the Kennedy period.
K: Why don't you give me a call tomorrow when you get in?
R: I could see you after if you wanted to or perhaps the next week.
K:
How long are you here Friday?
R: I don't know. They are bringing me to Dulles for a 5:30 plane.
K: I was sorry to miss you NEXX last week. It was the first time in 6 weeks that
the President wanted to see me at 8:00 a. m.
thing
R: No problem with me. Anyxxxx I can do to strengthen your hand.
K: I could see you Friday afternoon. Let's try for 3:00.
