K: I tried to call last night. I wanted to tell you that I thought the questions
you asked, especially about youth, were particularly sensitive. I told the
President and he asked me to tell you he felt that way too and it's the most
important question of our time.
C: Did you haar it at Kay's?
K: I did. I listened to the whole thing.
C: What did you think of the questions?
K: I thought they were better then I thought they would be. Did you?
C: I wasn't too satisfied.
K: Some questions not all that good. 70% of the questions -- strangely, you
probably think the Cormier/Richards questions were good.
C: no.
K: They were what you can get out a ball park. But the Dickinson question on
what he thinks might -- you might think it's banal en hecouldn't have prepared and
that
C:; I xxatsx also tried to get him on the ? ? ? question.
K: Less than an endorsement of Agnew. Not an endorsement of the charges.
C: There's getting to be a deep void of the press and Agnew. I have had Agnew
in and we had a nice luncheon.
K: The poor were no poorer than at a press conference. Some dealt with
profound problems and others were offbeat SO that he couldn't have prepared
answers.
C: We didn't prepare in advance the questions. He did a good job. The only
thing ? ? ? ? J. Edgar Hoover.
K: That was less than all out support.
C: Editors and publishers, it;s not our business to ask questions of the President
K: I thought -- I was at Kay's and the President called and asked what I thought.
I told him and said the question on youth was especially sensitive. I didn't know
