R: The Eghptians invited me. I see the Russians have a new plan. If they
do it's a good thing.
K: I don't see how the Russians think they can settle the M. E. without us.
R: I think other things are going on.
K: The Chinese thing is turning well. We have to be careful -- your people
have been terrific -- but if we overplay it the Chinese will pull the rug out.
Pxxpx Papers overplayed it/
R: We welcome it and hope it will be responsive to the President's moves. I
think I will have a press conference on Friday. Let me know if you have any
thoughts. I am going to CEATO and CENTO.
K: And keep going. Going for 10 days?
R: About 2 weeks. The same time you are. Alex Johnson was g planning to
go to Africa. Do you think he should postpone his trip? With you andIgoing
gox to be away?
K: That week? I think he should be here with us gone. He is the only crisis
manager we have got. x Postpone until we get back.
