I didn't want to bother you now. I cancelled the call but I guess you
had already gotten the message. The thing I hadn't realized is that
on Monday they are going to surface this whole financing problem.
H:
I hadn't heard anything about it until just now.
K:
Is there any way we can keep Symington from doing this?
H:
I saw Stennis this morning, he didn't know what was going on.
K:
He says they are going to surface it.
H:
Who has paid for what.
K:
And out of whose hands.
H:
I don't know what we can do with Symington.
K:
Your calling him and telling him that this is going too far won't work?
H:
I
wish I knew the answer to this. The Senate for the last 2-3 days
in Secret Session and what its up to. I saw Stennis today trying to
find out. Whether Symington would call it off or not, I don't know.
K:
Couldn't hurt or can it?
H:
It has gone pretty far now. Is it going to be that bad? It is unfortunate
but SO much damage has been done already, I don't know if it would
do any good. What does Mel think?
K:
I don't know whose side Mel is on.
H:
That's what worries me too.
K:
Will you check on this and call me in the morning?
H:
Yes.
