H: How did you come out on the problem of last night on what the man down
south should do?
K: Our policy here is to divulge on a need to know basis.
H: I need to know because I am curious.
K: I just had the same question. We had an impassioned talk and listed the xp
pros and cons and never came to a xxxxxx conclusion. If we want to play it in
XXXXX conventional way heshould talk and we should say something or vice versay
or someone could get on moral ground and say we are defending on principle
and say you cannot steal 47 documents and can't take things out of context and
calumny people and if they
we should do it alone. I don't see what he adds
to us.
He made
H: Ezened one observation that is the nugget in my mind and I was trying to stop
it in my chat with Chuck. I don't think he should do it. After he talked and makes
his attack then if you said as last evening from that point forward our end is to
(support) LBJ.
K: And to say LBJ defends while we defend the principle, there will be 3 people
who understand that. Then Johnson and Nixon are fighting shoulder to shoulder.
I would rather go alone. We can say we don't know what's in the documents but
it's one-sided. Chuck Colson thinks you are in favor of LBJ making a statement.
H: I told him I agreed with you.
K: You must have said you agreed with you -- seriously, he said this morning
you came around to his view.
H: I gave up after our last conversation. After you talked with Walt.
K: (We gain nothing by an LBJ Z statement). It's a personal matter and doesn't
help us and irrelevant to our cause. It puts Johnson and Nixon on the same plane.
HexIsaid xhelwill speak on the record but not after
LBJ has spoken.
H: So it waits in limbo in the moment.
K: I will talk with Colson and turn it off. I think the y will go.
