VP: I had a call from Kennedy in Hong Kong and he said he is
sending Rex Beach back here and sending him to Korea with me to
brief me on textile because he says the Koreans are trying to whip
saw around though the govt is okay with them. Any problem?
K : I will check with Porter.
VP: Kennedy thinks Porter may not be favorable. Beach has things
for me --
K : Kennedy doesn't report -- he has a way of conducting diplomacy
that's unheard of. The first Presidential emissary in Korea who
was not seen off by any govt official. I don't know if you want
to get with him on a goodwill mission. On Sat. he wanted to
blast Korea while he was there. I heard about it indirectly and
I ordered him not to do it. I will check on it and call before the
end of the day.
VP : I understand my briefing books from State are in the Council
and I would like the first couple to met working on.
K:
You will have them tonight.
