A: I am (off) Thursday to Indochina to see Suharto and on to Moscow and
wondered if any line I should take or anythin g I can g do.
K: The situation is still as I mentioned when I talked with you. Avoid
senior Americans apologizing for Chinese moves. Make clear that same
is
pessible for them. Don't go along with Arbatov that we have to prove
with them. It's important that they be concrete and realistic.
A: I just went to Aspen and came to the khatx thought that ? ? ? ? ? and
change. No country can stay out for a period of time.
K: We don't owe the Soviets anything in particular but ready to improve
relations.
A: Looks as if there might be -- I know the line to take. Its' the facts of
life. If any desire for them to discuss this, then I am sure it can be
arranged.
K: And with goodwill on our side. Call me when you get back.
A: I will. I know it will happen as I think anyway. How are the working
people in Calif. ? I am in New Mexcio
K: Those are the places to be.
A: I will give you a ring when I get in.
