TELECON Dave Kraslow xxx 10/1/71 11:35 a. m. DK: I need some personal guidance. I want to take a couple of weeks off. Is there anything of significance prior to the November 15 speech coming up? K: When do you want to take your vacation? DK: It depends on what's occurring here. It's flexible. K: You may miss the Peking trip. Does that make any difference? DK: It sure does. But I don't think you're serious. K: I am not. You'll get plenty of warning on that. DK: How much, a week? K: I think you'll get a hell of a lot more. DK: Good. K: I don't know, but it wouldn't be our style we don't believe in tearing everybody off like that. DK: So if I took two weeks in October are there any great risks of mission any major foreign policy stuff? K: I don't want to comment on these things. DK: Well, I need a few weeks of vacation, but I don't want to miss out on China or anything of consequence coming up, and I just don'e see anything coming before November 15. K: I don't see anything like a trip coming up. DK: So the last two weeks in October would be K: Pretty safe. If anything comes up it would not have been programmed, and if I decently can give you a warning I will. DK: And it would be in reaction to an unpredicted event? K: I don't expect anything like that in the last twoox weeks of October. DK: Okay, and I am still assuming that Kosygin and the President won't get together.
