K: But I have to put a caveat on that. If Kosygin comes to the UN
we have to consider the etiquette of letting him sit up there. But I don't see
that coming up.
DK: If he were coming, you'd know by now?
K: When will he be in Canada?
DK: The 15th.
K: And he will be a week there?
DK: Eight days.
K: And he would come, if at all, after that. So I would imagine there
would be at least two or three weeks' warning. If you ask me how I would say
he is not coming to the UN. And with any other newsman I would say flatly no.
But we can't be sure Dobrynin won't call me up and say he's coming. But if
I had to bet I would bet against it and it doesn't seem to me that it would be
their style to force a meeting this way. What would they get out of it? There
is no crisis they have to pull the teeth of.
DK: And between the 15th and November 15 you don't anticipate any
major foreign policy statement.
K: Don't quote me at this, but I don't anticipate a major, or for that
matter a minor foreign policy speech in the last twox weeks of October.
DK: Okay. What chance is there for lunch next week?
K: Pretty bad.
DK: Would a visit be in order?
K: Sure, toward the end of the week.
DK: Shall I call Dianne on Monday?
K: Call Coleman Hicks on Monday.
DK: Okay, and Happy New Year.
K: Thank's Dave and the same to you.
