E: Tell me a little bit more on reconnaissaince.
K: I can't.
E: Did they help in that aspect of Indian invasion?
K: Don't press it because I would have to tell you too much. I said this for
guidance. Don't tie it to Administration sources.
E: I won't but if it's accurate -- they have a treaty but it doesn't run to that
extent.
K: It's reason to believe that they shared some of it.
E: Preliminary reconnaissance.
K: But don't go further.
E: Did you see our piece on the M. E. ?
K: You wrote as a decision what's a tendency.
E: It's going to heppen.
K: The whole basis -- have to do something which csnnot happen there. It wasn't
our first choice. We didn't think it has ruined detente policy and it might have
jolted them too.
E: Doesn't effect
?
K: No. Before India/Pakistan thing relations with Soviets were better then they
have ever been.
E. I agree. That's why I hope we are not being taken for a ride.
K: That's why we had to act violently. They can't sell good manners
when they are undertaking the whole balance of power. We may have erred
too much on hard side in the last few days.
E: Are they angry?
K: Probablysulking.
E: Where are you going?
K: To Phila. for a funerah and then NY and Bermuda.
