Mr. Bludhorn/Mr. Kissinger
3:04 p.m., March 16, 1973
K:
Well, I say if I'm in the country -- If I'm on some mission --
B:
All right, fine. But if you're in the country, you'll be there, right ?
K:
That's right.
B:
Well, I think it will be a lot of fun. It's just going to be a few people and
I think you'll enjoy it because it's not a stiff Washington-type thing and I
think it's your kind of a party, you know.
K:
Right.
B:
I don't know yet whether I'm going to ask Ted Kennedy to come because
I don't know whether Ted and John Connally you know, I don't want to
run the '76 race yet if at all possible because I may want you to mediate
it.
K:
(laughter)
B:
And I think you'd do a very good job. They'll probably offer you an
extension until at least 1984. Actually, come to think of it, I think that's
what I'll do and we can start a bidding contest on you and we'll see how
stingy Teddy is.
K:
If I'm still in this job in '76, I might as well stay till '84. I'll be no good
for anything else.
B:
I think so, Henry, but look you never know. With John Connally, it could
be a lot of fun. And with Teddy, it could be very nice, you know in another
way. We might make an auction out of it after the movie.
K:
(laughter)
B:
No, but I think you'll enjoy it. Bob will tell you, the last one we had was
really a lot of fun. It's something I want you to attend. Why don't you
put it on your calendar for Friday, April 27th. It's the first time I went
through one of these formalities but I hope you'll be able to make it.
K:
It's informal?
B:
Oh, yeah, it's not going to be black tie. So Christ, no.
K:
Okay, good. Well, Charles, really unless I'm off on some mission, I'll
be there.
