TELCON Minister Sykes (Great Britain Emb. ) / Mr. Kissinger 7:30 p. m. , March 27, 1973 K: I'm calling you about the fact that Brimelow now won't be able to come over here. What has happened is that the Soviets have given us a counterdraft. S: Ah, I see. K: And I would like to comment to them about it. S: Um-humm. K: Now if he can't come, have you got secure ways of getting it back? S: Oh, yes. K: So that it doesn't get into 50 copies. S: No indeed. We can quite easily, if you can let us have it, we can send it back and make quite certain that it will go direct unopened to Sir Brimelow and he can then comment on it. K: How quickly do you think I could get his answers? S: Let me think -- K: When would you like it, first thing in the morning? S: If you could let us have it first thing in the morning -- K: Yes. S: I'm afraid I shan't be there myself because I have to go up to New York but the Ambassador is back and his private secretary could take it and see that it went to Brimelow. K: Oh, okay. Well, I'll get it to the Ambassador then. S: Umhumm. I will warn his private secretary that there will be something coming for onward transmittal. K: I was told he wasn't back yet. S: No, he got back just the weekend. K: Right.
