2 K: And I think that the President is leaning towards him for ISA. C: That's just great. That's marvelous and I understand. K: It's breaking my heart about Pakistan but we have to do what's best for the overall situation. C: Well, Henry in my judgment and I told you this yesterday and I wouldn't presume to say what's the most from any other viewpoint except my own, but certainly from my own standpoint and what I know about the situation I just can't help but feel that he would serve the President's purposes to a great advantage in this job. K: Well, you've pretty well gotten me around to that point of view but you would have to help make it go, Bill. C: I intend to. K: And you'd have to make sure that the bright boys are not end-running him. C: No, they're not going to do that. You can assure him and the President that I'll support him in every way and Henry, I am very comfortable in this building. I really am. K: Good. C: The people in the building just couldn't be treating me nicer. It's a tough building and so forth but that doesn't bother me one minute and they understand me and I think I understand them. d K: You didn't get where you are by being soft. C: That's right and I'll damn sure support him and you can tell him that. K: Good. C: OK. K: Ok, and I'll have another word with the President and let us give the word to Eliot. C: Absolutely. K: Good Bill. C: You're a gentleman and a scholar. K: Bye.
