TelCon Jack Anderson/Mr. Kissinger 4:29 pm, June 1, 1973 A: didn't know you would be back so soon or I would have held it. Let me tell you what it was and I can still put out something if you wish. I got a memo from inside the Senate Committee investigating the Watergate, and it was summary of John Mitchell's testimony. K: Yes. A: Not his foreign testimony but his statement to the Senate investigators with his lawyer present and three or four investiga- tors present. And there was one small portion that concerned you. K: I'm glad to hear that. A: And I felt--well let me tell you what it was. He said that he had attended regular 8:30 a. m. meetings. He said when he woke up one time that he had attended, right after the Watergate arrests, a regular 8:30 a. m. staff meeting that discussed Watergate and what the strategy should be, and he said that he listed those attending as Halderman, Ehrlichman, MacGruder, Colson, Henry Peterson and yourself. K: Henry Peterson? Oh, he's a God damned liar. A: Is that right. K: Yeah. Never, I've never met Henry Peterson, I've never attended any such meeting. A: Is that so? Well, maybe it was Pete Peterson. K: Well, Pete Peterson even less likely. A: Uh huh. K: Well I have never attended a meeting at which Watergate was discussed Never. A: For heaven's sake. K: And it's a flat, outrageous, deliberate, I don't know how else to describe it.
