The President/Kissinger
October 26, 1973
6:30 p. m.
K. Mr. President.
N. Have we had any further developments with the UN or
Secretary General requesting us to participate in --
K. Not yet.
N. In the one case it is a peace-keeping force and in the other
case an observer force.
K. We will under no circumstances approve the peace-keeping
force. That is what the Security Council ordered.
N. They agreed to that
K. On the observer force we have not yet been asked but we
can see that we have reason to believe we will be asked.
N. And the Soviets indicate they so desire. Is it sent in
already?
K. They send 70 people but we should not praise them because
of that.
N. No, No. O'k I will try to dance around it.
