Amb. Zahedi/Sec. Kissinger
Friday, Feb. 8, 1974
12:30 p. m.
Z: You have come back to Washington and you bring this snow.
K: If you keep making snotty remarks to a Sec. of State you will be in
trouble.
Z: I have tälked to His Majesty yesterday and mentioned about the talk we
had night before last.
K: I hope you told him of my affection for him.
Z: Yes indeed. He was pleased to hear from you and he is looking
forward to seeing you.
K: Good.
Z: That would be in the third week of March. March 21 is Persian National
New Year when we have the ceremony in Iran. After that he would go
to a place in the Persian Gulf -- a beautiful island which is like heaven.
You should go there and he would love to see you there. You could have a
swim together. You can land any kind of plane there. If you are going
from the northern part you can land there and staya as long as you want.
He would love to see you.
K: I would probably have a pretty big party with me.
Z: It is all right as long as you let me know how many you have.
I
would arrange for their stay. You would stay at the xxxxx palace
we have for the Crown Prince and I would arrange for the other people.
Just let me know.
K: You could handle my usual travelling group?
Z: Most happy to.
K: It is very generous of His Majesty and I might even make a break for a
day and stay overnight or something.
Z: It would be wonderful. You are making SO many trips and you are so
tired. In that time of year really heaven in this new place. At the same time
you would have a chance to see the Persian Gulf area from the plane. Since
you will be there I could arrange for your company to be about a half-hour away
from you so they would be on their own. They could have their fun themselves.
Nobody else would be there in your talks unless you wish.
