C: How do you see it?
K: IF Makarios is leaving the Island I have to make a different
assessment than if he is leading a civil war. My mai n concern is
to keep outside powers out of this.
C: Yes.
K: We can go along with asking the Greek Government to state their
intentions -- on the remaining Greek officials, we would come to it but
n ot today.
C: Good. I think this wiould help keep things
K: Once there is an outcome , then we can do something. We are not
supporting Enosisand we have had a good reaction from the Turks to our
actions here.
C: Good. We are in a different position, of course, because we are
one of the guaranteeing powers.
K: I just want you to know our thinking is only different on that officer
point and that on timing. We will make an assessment of this.
C: Good. Henry , will you give me your assessment of what to do with
this guy ?
K: Yes. I will. I'll be in touch with Peter on it.
C: Good.
