TELECON
Mr. Kissinger/Ambassador Dobrynin
11:35 a. m., June 29, 1971
D:
Hello, Henry.
K:
Anatoliy, how are you? I have two questions: (1) Have you
found out about Thursday?
D:
There is difficulty with Thursday. Couldn't we make it tomorrow
at my house in the evening.
K:
I will keep it open. Maybe I'll be able to do it.
D:
8:00, or 8:30 or 9:00. We were invited a very long time ago
to a dinner on Thursday, and my wife is leaving for Moscow on Tuesday.
K:
Then you are not coming to Hollywood? Could you come alone.
D:
No, I would rather go with my wife.
K:
If you come alone, we can corrupt you.
D:
I am trying to be uncorruptible.
K:
But every man must have a weakness.
D:
What about Friday?
K:
I am leaving Friday.
D:
What time?
K:
In the morning. Let's aim for tomorrow night. On port security
problem, I need your opinion. What we can do immediately is put the
Soviet Union on the same basis as all East European countries.
D:
I am not well acquainted with that.
K:
We can do that by Thursday.
D:
When I meet with you, can you bring the kind of things.
K:
Then we can begin negotiations on reciprocity.
