K: You think it would help? -I got some figures today that show that during
the high first - first of all during that Route 4 operation that got everybody
so steamed up is now ended and the maximum number of planes we used was
21 a day. That is all we were talking about. And in the whole NEXXX rest of
Cambodia. 21 for one strike - 21 sorties a day. And in the whole rest
of Cambodia on that sort of operation are 30 a day. It seems to me that that
is so minimal that
P: Exactly. Say here's what we are doing. Totally related to helping the
Cambodians and
South Vietnamese.
K: Re-establishment of
P: One purpose is to avoid a situation where they are reestablishing at a
time when great bulk of our forces gone
I just think
any more than.
K: I will keep it to between 5 and 10 minutes.
P: Just get up there and lay it out and sit down. Then I am going to put
Shultz on with the budget. Ehrlichman on
positive pitch. Is Rogers
going to testify? Are both he and Laird going to testify?
K: Rogers is testifying on Thursday. I had a talk with him today and he
seems to be well postured.
P: Rogers is going to testify, the Secretary of Defense is going to testify
and say you are not going to go over that. Absolutely clear that we are
doing exactly what we said we were going to do.
