Yeah, I think that should be done.

He'd say he got a message from me, that's the one way of handling

Well, but wasn't there a briefing by Weyand?
M:
Yes, I think so. We could put Weyand on.
K:
And that wouldn't be unusual.
M:
I think he has given one before, yeah. But most of the time you see
what he -- Abrams is very careful not to make - - to be quartered in
public.
K:
Look we don't want to undermine Abrams' credibility, we don't
want to make him a political issue.
M:
Right.
K:
So if he wants to put Weyand on, that's fine with us.
M:
Um-hum.
K:
And if he wants to do it on a background basis, that's fine with us.
M:
Um-hum. All right. Well, now he has done that I think.
K:
I think he has done backgrounders.
M:
He has done backgrounders, yeah.
K:
So why doesn't he do a backgrounder?
M:
All right. W 11, I'll talk to him.
K:
And then all we want is some stories move out of Saigon. It doesn't
have to be on the record.
M:
Yeah, all right, fine.

And that way he can avoid saying that he was ordered to do it.
