MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
GOLDEN SPIKE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION COMMISSION
THE WHITE HOUSE
TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 1969
THE PRESIDENT:
At 10:30 a. m. the following persons will be escorted to
your office for a brief visit:
Mr. Thomas M. Goodfellow, Chairman
of the Golden Spike Centennial Celebration
Commission and President of the Association
of American Railroads.
Mr. J. Paull Marshall, Assistant Vice President,
Association of American Railroads.
Honorable James M. Beggs, Under Secretary
Department of Transportation.
Senator Wallace Bennett, Utah, Member of the
Commission.
Mr. Goodfellow will give you a brief report on the planned
activities for May 3-10 celebration which commemorates completion
of the first transcontinental railroad.
NOTE:
You were invited to participate in the
re-enactment of the 1869 link up at
Promontory, Utah, but the invitation
was regretted.
