RECEPTION FOR
THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF NEWSPAPER EDITORS
THE WHITE HOUSE
FRIDAY, APRIL 18, 1969
THE PRESIDENT:
At 6:05 p. m: you and the First Lady will be escorted from
the Family Quarters of the Residence and will descend the Grand
Staircase. You will pause two steps from the lower landing for the
Marine Band to play Ruffles and Flourishes and to be announced.
You will then step off as "Hail to the Chief" is played and proceed
across the Grand Hall into the Blue Room where you will form a
receiving line. A social aide will present the guests.
NOTE:
The dress is black tie and there will be
approximately 1, 200 guests. Due to the
numbers involved, your guests will occupy
the Grand Hall as well as the East Room
when you first arrive.
There will be no Color Guard, but the flags
will be in place behind you.
There will be press pool coverage of the
receiving line in the Blue Room.
Your guests will enter from the Green Room and after they
have been greeted by you and Mrs. Nixon will pass on to the State
Dining Room.
