APPENDIX "B" PORTRAIT SITTING THE WHITE HOUSE TUESDAY - APRIL 22, 1969 THE PRESIDENT: At 4:15 p.m. you will be escorted from your office to the Cabinet Room for various formal photographs. Mr. Joseph King of Winston-Salem has been commissioned by the President Nixon Portrait Committee to provide "the University with a portrait of the President" and will take various photographs to aid in painting your portrait. It is hoped that this portrait will be ready for presentation to Duke University (to hang in its Law School) at the University's June graduation ceremony. At the same time, a photographer from the National Geographic Magazine will also be present to take pictures for inclusion in The White House, which is published by National Geographic for The White House Historical Association. Ollie Atkins will also be present. It is estimated that the sitting will be of approximately five to ten minutes duration.
