Dear Alice:
Thanks for the run-down on Eisenhower
appointees and their present activities. I do not have
the list from which you are working, and would very

much like to have a copy.

I am aware of the complaint which we
still seem to be getting regarding the length of time
which elapses between a request to speak and acknowledg-
date
ment of the letter.
However, we are proceeding, in effect,
along the lines which you have suggested; a form letter
goes out upon receipt of the request, saying that it is
being referred to the Schedule Committee and that the
writer will be hearing directly from them in the near
Eisenhower appointees
future.
If you have specific instances of this

complaint, please let me know so that we can check it
through. Without this, it is difficult to ascertain where
the system is not working.

letter addressed to RN.
Will you please make certain this contact is
made, and let me know how it is handled?
April 27, 1962
Dear Mrs. Scott:
Thank you very much for your letter of April 23rd. Our
thanks too for the Support Sheet which you returned, and
especially for your own contribution of $25.00. The comments
**
in your letter have been read with interest, and I want to
- -
assure you, such expressions are always gratefully received.
Unfortunately, the April 24th invitation extended to Dick
Nixon conflicted with a long standing commitment with the
file
Junior Chamber of Commerce Dinner in Pasadena.
At this time, I do want you to know the Schedule Committee is
working on "A Day in the San Gabriel Valley", which will
include as many stops and events as can be handled within
the day's itinerary. Dick has made an earnest attempt to
visit every county and specific areas within counties in the
state, and will continue to do so throughout the coming
months. Looking back at what he has done thus far is a bit
staggering to all of us. Although travelling at break-neck
speed, naturally there are still many areas to be covered in

Pitchess recommends that we attack Brown for specific positions

not relate the attack to a broad sweeping issue of law enforcement in the
state of California. Thus, we should attack Brown for refusing to call

that narcotics is sweeping the state and overrunning the law enforcement

I have getten some reports from a variety of sources regarding
the operation of your volunteer field men in the Northern California

There is also apparently some confusion as to who has the authority

while your men are trying to help in this regard, their efforts are
resulting in confusion in some cases.

There is also a feeling that the field men are wasting campaign money

There is also feeling on the part of some of our local Chairmen that we
tend to waste a great deal of time and certainly money in extended
