Alice Leopold 4-30-62 Bob Haldeman Dear Alice: Thanks for the run-down on Eisenhower appointees and their present activities. I do not have the list from which you are working, and would very X X much like to have a copy. 0 9 File: I am aware of the complaint which we still seem to be getting regarding the length of time which elapses between a request to speak and acknowledg- date ment of the letter. However, we are proceeding, in effect, along the lines which you have suggested; a form letter goes out upon receipt of the request, saying that it is being referred to the Schedule Committee and that the writer will be hearing directly from them in the near Eisenhower appointees future. If you have specific instances of this No. Calif. - Alice Leopold complaint, please let me know so that we can check it through. Without this, it is difficult to ascertain where the system is not working. Dan Waters 4-27-62 Bob Haldeman Fred S. Bisnett's letter addressed to RN. Will you please make certain this contact is made, and let me know how it is handled? April 27, 1962 Dear Mrs. Scott: Thank you very much for your letter of April 23rd. Our thanks too for the Support Sheet which you returned, and especially for your own contribution of $25.00. The comments ** in your letter have been read with interest, and I want to - - assure you, such expressions are always gratefully received. Unfortunately, the April 24th invitation extended to Dick Nixon conflicted with a long standing commitment with the file Junior Chamber of Commerce Dinner in Pasadena. At this time, I do want you to know the Schedule Committee is working on "A Day in the San Gabriel Valley", which will include as many stops and events as can be handled within the day's itinerary. Dick has made an earnest attempt to visit every county and specific areas within counties in the state, and will continue to do so throughout the coming months. Looking back at what he has done thus far is a bit staggering to all of us. Although travelling at break-neck speed, naturally there are still many areas to be covered in the months ahead, and this will be accomplished. File: S Camp. Corres. - Comments-Suggestions Thank you again for writing. Please know we appreciate your continued loyalty and active support. Sincerely, H. R. Haldeman Mrs. Willard R. But until the right people are pulled in to chairman xx # # these committees, it is difficult to tell someone like Mrs. Kanegai very much beyond the fact we are actively at work date on the program, need and want her suggestions and are counting on her help. Dan Waters also has his name and background and will be getting together with him shortly. April 27, 1962 Dear George: It always happens -- and perhaps understandably so when we deal with such large mailing lists. In any event, we all know you are on "The Nixon date X I Team", but your name was on the 1960 list used a for the Valley Knudsen and Henriette Cowgill letter. I have checked on the supplies and am told they went out to you March 14th. However, our Northern California office has told us you never received them, so a second shipment addressed to you went out yesterday. You will also be getting the posters from the Northern California headquarters very shortly. Keep up the good work, and best regards. Sincerely, H. R. Haldeman Mr. George C. DeLury, Jr. Court House Bridgeport, California Rose Mary Woods 4-26-62 Dorothy Wright Your 4-25 memo re: Santa Barbara Chairman Rose - Your note was received in Bob's absence. We have been able to run down the following information. Our Santa Barbara County Nixon Chairman, Mr. Claude Morter, was contacted. He said the only one in the book store business he knew about was Mr. Donald McLaughlin, who is Santa Barbara County Central Committee Chairman, and added that "McLaughlin is a strong Nixon man."
