Dear Mr. Cahill:
Jim Halley has just forwarded me your check for
$250.00 and I certainly want to express our
sincere thanks without further delay.
It is understood you would like this contribution
earmarked for additional TV or radio coverage,
and this will be done.
May I assure you that in these few remaining days
of the campaign, this is the most effective use to
which these funds can be directed, and we are most
appreciative of your recognizing the need and
contributing so generously to the cause.
With best regards.

Dear Bob:
Enclosed please find Campaign Contribution of
J. Peter Cahill, one of San Francisco's well known
Cahill Brothers, in the sum of $250.00.
His request was that the monies be ear-marked
for additional T. V. or radio coverage, the precise
use to be determined by the Campaign Committee.
I know you will put this to good use and would
appreciate it if you could send a letter over your
own signature to Mr. Cahill.
Very truly yours,
James W. Halley

Dear Boo
During these hectic days, not
too much happens that gives cause for anything
but more work, more complaints, more drive to get
the job done - more of everything, except the where-
withall to do it.
When your note and check were
received this morning, I put them aside until I had
this chance to write you a brief, but nonetheless
sincere thank-you.
I want to assure you that Dick Nixon
and all of us are and always will be grateful for the
loyal and long-time supporters like yourself.
A few of our pamphlets are enclosed
in the thought you wight be interested in seeing them.
Again, our thanks for your help
and very best wishes.
Sincerely,

Dear Wayne:
You couldn't be more right. Added
to the pile, the piece of paper enclosed
with your note of September 25th will mean
much.
Incidentally, I maintain several

goes in the "Pal Pile", which is right next to

say about the GOP just ain't true!

Dear Bob:
Attached is a list of Nixon supporters in the City of
El Monte who gave substantual amounts to the primary
campaign effort in that City and may be expected to
give again for the general. A letter from Dick to each
would be most desirable. Your attention is directed to the
fact that LeRoy Scott and Chuck Wiggins are both members
of the El Monte City Council and therefore it might be a
good move to invite them to a special reception when the oppe6
ortunity arises.
In addition please feel free to call upon me for any
job in which I can assist either you or Herb. The situation
here in the 25th Congressional district has improved somewhat
however 1 do believe that Mel Miller can use all the help
he can get from either Dick or staff members who might advise
him on various aspects of his campaign for the Assembly in
the 58th district- a district which 1 believe can be won.
Respectifully,

Dear Kurt:
Following are the names of the more substantial contributors
to the Nixon campaign in El Monte. I would be appreciated
if these names and addresses could be forwarded to the
Nixon organization in Los Angeles, to the end that the
candidate might write a letter of appreciation to them.
Thank you very much for your help in this matter.

Dear Dick:
I am sending under separate cover a contribu-
tion which I hope you find useful in your campaign. I know
what an arduous task you have set before yourself and only
wish I could personally be more effective.
I have talked to a number of my friends point-
ing out your dilemma in obtaining adequate funds, and two
or three, including Ed Pauley in Miami, have indicated they
would be sending some money along.
As Paul Bagwell no doubt mentioned to you, I
have long felt indebted to you for the experience I had in
being on your staff in 1952, and this is but a mild gesture
to try to say thank you.
My best always to both you and Pat.

Dear Pete:
I was very distressed when St. Patrick's
Day ran its full course without a peep of a Bagpipe -
or even a telephone call from you. But my grief was
completely assuaged by your letter of March 27th and,
most importantly, by its accompanyment.
You can continue, however, to enjoy the
thought of my searching for money, rather than spending
it lavishly, since I am doing far more of the former than
the latter at this stage.
John has not come across with the Shay's
$2,500 - but then, I haven't been able to set up a
lunchoom he wanted me to work out with the old man -
so I guess it's my fault.
Do, by all means, continue to search for
this sort of material back there. It all helps.
Trust the Flamigan clan is in its usual
great shape, and that you will wend your way westward
before too long so that we can belatedly celebrate the
second anniversary of the infamous March 17th.
Very best.

In an effort to help Dorothy, et al, catch up with phone calls
and letters offering help, I took several pieces of correspondence
and phone numbers from people who might help in my areas of as-
signment. Bedia Erdle was among them. I called her yesterday and
asked her to come in and talk with me about things that she might
be particularly interested in doing. We agreed that she would be
used to talk to small, informal groups; work with Helene Drown on
letters, and give 9 hours per week of volunteer time.
She is a native of Baghdad, Iraq, former classmate of Jackie Kennedy's
at Vassar and a graduate of UCLA.
She wanted to give financially. I told her we need money now. She

Thank you very much for your most generous contribu-

I know that Dick would like very much to get together

Do you come to California at all? If so, I would
appreciate your letting me know when you might plan to
be here so that we can be sure you and Dick have an
opportunity to meet. His schedule will be almost totally
concentrated within the state from now until November,
so there is not much likelihood of your meeting at any

Please forgive this long delay in replying to
your letter of October 31st to Mr. Richard Nixon.
The letter did have to follow a rather devious
route before it reached him, and then he held
up replying until proper procedures were set up
for handling out of state donations.
Your offer to contribute $1,000 to the California
campaign is very much appreciated by Mr. Mixon.
As you know from past experience, your presumption
that money is harder to get during the primary
is certainly correct.

Thank you for your good letter of September 25th.
Although I live in Georgia, I wish to send you $1,000
for your campaign in California because I feel your
election there has national significance, and that all
Republicans all over the country should funnel their
