FOR ED HARPER
SUBJECT: Suggestion for a Republican Journal
Yesterday afternoon I talked with Martin Anderson regarding
Tom Evans suggestion that a Republican journal come into
being. He feels that very few first rate intellectuals will
write for political journals and this is complicated by the fact
that there are not a great number of Republican intellectuals.
He suggests that Evans talk with Bill Baroody about this whole
subject. Additionally, Martin suggested that we plan to have
five to ten intellectuals testify before our platform hearings.
His final suggestion was that the RNC buy copies of intellectual
journals which contain certain articles favorable to our point
of view and distribute them. He feels that the purchase of a
few thousand copies can make a difference between success and
failure of some of these publications.
This information is passed on for whatever action you deem
appropriate.
