Friday, June 11, 2010 Page 1 of 1 MEMORANDUM THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON November 18, 1970 FOR: H. R. Haldeman FROM: Lyn Nofziger an RE: Hollings and Hunger I believe this is going to have to be an on-going process. I called Moynihan. He has not yet returned the call, but his girl told me he plans to talk with Hollings in a few days. They also were not aware of any statement he might have put out, so I presume you are referring to the Post story of November 13. Hollings would like to be the Vice Presidential running mate to a northern lib, so is trying to create the proper credentials. He has become as repentent about his former hunger attitude as Hughes and Williams are about booze. In 1972 we may be faced with a ticket of saved sinners.
