Friday, July 02, 2010 Page 1 of 1 THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON August 15, 1972 ADMINISTRATIVELY CONFIDENTIAL MEMORANDUM FOR: H. R. HALDEMAN FROM: BRUCE KEHRLI BAK. SUBJECT: Cap Weinberger at the Convention John Dean checked once again on the possibility of Cap Weinberger going to the Convention and reiterates the point that it's fine for him to go as a casual observer as long as he picks up his own expenses and does not participate. He can observe the proceedings and, of course, attend any social functions; however, he should not get involved in any other way. John Dean has talked to Weinberger about these re- strictions and Cap has agreed to abide by them. Whether he does and whether anybody with Weinberger's political background could go to a political convention without getting involved in the politics remain to be seen.
