Dear Rose Mary:
The attached copy of a letter I have sent
Jerry Milbank is self-explanatory. While
he was here last week and we were planning
for the big Republican dinner on November
ninth, we all agreed that Governor Chafee
could knock off Pell for the Senate in Rhode
Island. You know what we think about
Governor Nunn in Kentucky. In my opinion
the President could be helped tremendously
if these two would run for the Senate.
If DeSimone would come back and run for
Governor in Rhode Island and Chafee for the
Senate, I don't discount that the President
could take Rhode Island. They have machine
voting there and many of the lower-income
Italian families know how to pull only one
lever. They would vote for DeSimone and
automatically for Chafee and the President.
I trust this note finds everything well with
you and,
With warm best wishes,
mMK Robert Yeager
