Stephen Your efforts during the recent campaign, when you headed Mayors for Hixon-Agnew, demonstrated to me your grasp of the problems our cities face and your progressive and forthright approach to these problems. The easing of tensions in metropolitan areas, maintanance of 2 reasonable and equitable tax base, pollution control and human relations are all issues close to the vital interests of every citizen. The issues of today, national 23 well as local, are complex. To understand and to solve them requires experience and wisdom. 1 am confident that responsibility and good judgement will prevail over reaction and entremism wherever they may be found and that, if elected Mayor of Minneapolis, you would continue to uphold that great City's proud heritage and progressive tradition. Sincerely, RICHARD NIXON X Mr. Dan Cohon President City Council 307 City Hall Minnespolis, Minnesota 55415 RN:Melencamp:tlp 9 MAY? Unfortunately, as I told your secretaries when I phoned later on Friday, they just wouldn't reproduce in black and white as well as we hoped they would. AS a matter of fact, you always lose some of the quality when you print in the quantity we do. Hope to see you both soon -- and less frantically.
