Orange County Business Leaders
Cocktail-Dinner, Newport Harbor
Yacht Club, Newport Beach California
Thursday, July 6, 1972
Pursuant to your memo of June 10, 1972, I now have the information
you requested.
The proposed schedule is cocktails from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
and dinner from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They would like Mr. Ehrlichman
to give a speech from about 8:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The suggested
topic is "Economics in Industry".
They have suggested a short press conference. sometime between 4:00 p.m.
and 6:00 p.m.
There will be approximately 64 business leaders in attendance.
It would be helpful to know Mr. Ehrlichman's time schedule. They would
like to make reservations for Mr. Ehrlichman at the Newporter Inn, if
you would like.
Mr. Mike O'Donnell is handling the arrangements in California. He may
be reached at (714) 833-9050 at the Orange County Committee for the
Re-election.
Please let me know your final decision on this as soon as possible.
Thank you very much!

FOR SANDY CRAM
John has indicated that he would like to accept the
invitation from the Orange County Committee on Thursday,
July 6.
Before formally accepting, however, we would like a few
more details -- how long he should speak, whether there
would be a question and answer session afterwards, what
the press coverage would be, how many would attend,
and any other helpful information that you could provide.
Many thanks.

PRESIDENT
Dear :
On behalf of the Orange County Finance Committee to Re-elect the
President, we cordially invite you to be our guest at a small
private cocktail-dinner meeting with Presidential Economic Advisor,
John Ehrlichman. This will be held July 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the
Chart Room at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club.
We are delighted that Mr. Ehrlichman has agreed to spend an evening
with us during his forthcoming election planning meetings with the

vide all of us with new insight into the problems facing you, your
company, and our nation in this election year.
The next five months will largely determine the future of the free
enterprise system in the United States. We hope, from this very
informative meeting, to enlist your support and cooperation in our
vital efforts to re-elect the President, and greatly look forward
to having you participate in this most important gathering. Please
let us know as soon as possible if you will be able to join us.

Dear John:
What a delightful place to have lunch! Liz,
Christal and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit
with you at the Western White House offices
last Friday.
Christal was particularly thrilled to be
included and most appreciative of your personal
interest in her. She tackled her job at Nixon
Re-election Headquarters on Monday with great
enthusiasm.
All good wishes to you in the campaign this fall.
We will be doing everything we can to assist.
With best personal regards,

FOR CHUCK COLSON
John has asked that 1 forward the attached letter from
Herman H. Rappaport to the President and request that
you respond in the President's behalf. As the cover
note from Pat Hillings indicates, Mr. Rappaport is a
member of United Republican Finance and a strong
supporter of the President.
Additionally, John would appreciate receiving a copy of
your response.
