Dear George:
Many thanks for your letter of March 14 inviting me to
address luncheons of the 1973 Professional Staff Conference
on either Tuesday, May 1 or Wednesday, May 2.
As much as I would like to be able to join you, I have already
made commitments for both of these days, and so will have
to decline; however, I do appreciate your thinking of me.
Best personal regards.
Yours sincerely,
John D. Ehrlichman

Dear John:
The Republican National Committee is conducting its 1973 Pro-
fessional Staff Conference here in Washington on April 30 - May 3 at
the Quality Inn Hotel in Pentagon City.
The participants in this Conference will be the leadership and
professional staff members of our Party at the state and major county
levels from across the nation. The emphasis of this Conference will
be on the building and strengthening of the Republican Party at the
grass roots level to perform its traditional and important roles of
registration and voter turnout. This Conference will serve as a kick-
off to setting as a priority the building of the "New Republican Majority."
The Republican Party must develop the additional capacity to produce
the votes to bring victory for Republican candidates and majority status
in Congress for our Party.

I would like to extend to you an invitation to be the guest of honor
and featured speaker at either of our luncheons at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday,
May 1, or Wednesday, May 2. I feel certain that your enthusiastic
endorsement of the important role that Republican Party organizations
any
the
should play in capitalizing on the President's impressive victory in 1972
would serve as an inspiration to the Party professionals in attendance.
JW
I know you have tremendous demands on your time and I appreciate
your consideration of this invitation. I look forward to hearing from you
concerning this event.
Yours very truly,
John
a good one for
