It was very good to have your letter last week and to know

that. They mean a lot.
Jeannie is out on the West Coast looking after her mother

she gets back later this week.
I've sent a copy of your letter on to Pete in order that he
would know how to reach you. Aside from school and doing
edd jobs he is a member of the Republican State Executive
Committee (ite youth representative) is California and is
very much involved in church and other extracurricular
activities. He's spread himself pretty thin this quarter but
I'm sure he'll want you to know the details of his graduation.
He new is applying at law schools around the country and I'm
hopeful that he'll make a good connection. He's had several
good acceptances.
Things here remain very much the same) busy. It's good to hear
from you and I hope you'll keep us posted of your travels and activities.

EHRLICHMAN, JOHN
Mr. John D. Ehrlichman
Domestic Affairs
White House
Washington, D.C. 20500
Dear John:
The Board of Trustees of the Municipal League of Seattle and
King County have established a special commemorative award honoring the
late Ben Ehrlichman for his exceptional service to the Municipal League
and the community at large. His leadership and continuing support of
the League in Seattle, and the National Municipal League, stands out as
an exceptional example of putting 'community before self'.
We would like to appropriately honor Ben Ehrlichman posthu-
mously for his contributions to our community. It would be most fitting
if you and your wife could be present to present this award on behalf of
your late uncle and address those gathered for the occasion. As a past
Board member of the League and as a figure of considerable national
stature, the community at large, and particularly Municipal League members,
would be honored if you would return to Seattle to present this award and
participate in the official kick-off of the new Municipal League Research
Foundation which has been organized to develop programs for improving
local government.
Those present for this major civic occasion would be Ben's
wife, long time friends and associates, Municipal League members and
officers, public officials and members of the public at large. Municipal
League members in particular would be very interested to see and hear
from one of the most distinguished past members of the League Board of
Trustees. Recognizing your busy schedule we would make arrangements for
the affair based on your availability, with about four weeks notice re-
quited to make the appropriate preparations.
We sincerely hope you will make it possible to honor Ben
Ehrlichman in this manner.
Sincerely,
Kanith
Ben J. Gantt, Jr.
President
