MARQUEZ 1300 EDS CENTER EXCHANGE PARK FG6-11-1/ DALLAS, TEXAS 75235 FG5 PL/ST47 January 22, 1973 The Hon. John D. Ehrlichman The White House Washington, D. C. Dear John: It was a pleasure to see you and Jean again and I enjoyed meeting Jody. I am very pleased to see the steps you are taking to overhaul the government. I am looking forward to seeing what happens over the next sixty days as well as the next four years. X Tom Meurer asked me to tell you that he promises to deliver all the votes in Whatcom County in the event you decide to run for the Senate in 1974. (This is no idle boast since his relatives are the Republican Party county officers. ) This is a one way offer and is not intended to trick you into affirm- ing or denying your future political plans. (I suspect what they are since I saw the picture with you and Spivak arm in arm and smiling!) We look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Sincerely, Jom Thomas J. M PL/ST47 January 25, 1973 Dear Miss Schlag: Thank you very much for your letter confirming your invitation for Mr. Ehrlichman to speak at the Young Republicans of King County luncheon. Now that we are further along in the planning stages of Mr. Ehrlichman's trip, it is evident that we will be unable to schedule any other events while Mr. Ehrlichman is in Seattle. Please express our regrets to your membership. Per- haps we can work something out on a future trip. Sincerely yours, Tod R. Hullin Executive Assistant to John D. Ehrlichman Miss Barbara Schlag *Wash. (The) President Young Republicans of King County 2345 Minor Avenue, East #18 Seattle, Washington 98102 RECEIVED JA CENTRAL FILES 0 JAN 1 8 1973 THE YOUNG REPUBLICANS OF KING COUNTY Seattle, Washington January 16, 1973 Mr. Tod Hullin /o John Ehrlichman's Office White House Washington, D.C. Dear Mr. Hullin: With regard to our telephone conversation yesterday, I would like to explain more fully the invitation our club is extending Mr. Ehrlichman. The Young Republicans of King County (YRKC) are planning a luncheon for early March at which we would like our guest, John Ehrlichman, to be the speaker. The topic of his talk, to be chosen by Mr. Ehrlichman, preferably would be one perti- nent to the Northwest in 1973 relating the federal government policies and funding to our area. Those persons attending the luncheon will extend far beyond our own membership to include a broad spectrum of people from the greater Seattle business and professional communities. Also invited will be party leaders and office-holders from the local and state levels. This latter group has in the past been most supportive of any event our club has scheduled. As their schedules permit, King County Executive John Spellman and Governor Dan Evans among others will hopefully again be among our guests. Ideally, we would like to schedule the event for Monday, March 5th, but would willingly schedule the noon luncheon for Saturday, March 3rd. Knowing the primary reason for the trip to the Northwest is the Realtor's banquet on Friday night, March 2nd, we are hesitant to suggest a luncheon date prior to the banquet. An Invitation to Action
