PRESIDENT NIXON'S AMERICAN RED CROSS
TELEVISION MESSAGE
(One Minute)
From the time our Nation came into being, the "voluntary
way" has been the American way. The American Red Cross is one
of the great examples of what this voluntary spirit can accomplish.
Over two million Americans are Red Cross volunteers. They give
willingly of their time and energy to comfort our servicemen and
their families, to help disaster victims, to ollect blood, and to
teach first aid, lifesaving, and home nursing. They depend on you --
on your voluntary contributions through United Fund and Red Cross
appeals for the money needed to support their work. During March -
Red Cross Month - and in the year ahead, I urge you to set aside a
portion of your time and your income to assure that the Red Cross
can continue to be a living symbol of each American's concern for
his fellow man.
