THE WHITE HOUSE
FRIDAY, JUNE 20, 1969
THE PRESIDENT:
At 11:45 a. m. the immediate families of the three Medal of
Honor winners will be escorted into your office.
For Sergeant Paul H. Foster, USMCR
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Foster (parents)
For Corporal Larry E. Smedley, USMC
Mr. Russell E. Smedley (father)
For Corporal William T. Perkins, Jr., USMC
Mr. and Mrs. William T. Perkins, Sr. (parents)
After you have met briefly with the immediate families, you will
escort them outside to the Rose Garden. You will take position in the
center of the bottom step. The Foster family will take position on the
grass to your left, and the Smedley and Perkins families will take
position on the grass to your right. Escort officers and comrades-in-
arms will be on the grass to the left of the Foster family. Congressional
representatives who will be present and standing with the families will be:
For Sergeant Foster:
Senator George Murphy (R-Calif.)
For Corporal Smedley:
Senator Spessard Holland (D-Florida)
Congressman Maston O'Neal (D-Georgia)
For Corporal Perkins:
Congressman Barry Goldwater (R-Calif.)
