(Safire/Buchanan) JK October 15, 1970 SUGGESTED REMARKS FOR NEW JERSEY This is the second time I have come to visit New Jersey as Presi- dent. Last year I came here to Bill in his campaign. I'm happy that today I can greet him as Governor Cahill. Today I come here to ask the people of New Jersey to send Nelson Gross to Washington as your United States Senator. We need Nelson Gross in the Senate. In this crucial Congressional election year, he is one of the key men running for the Senate who can help us carry for- ward our programs for peace abroad and peace at home. I want him there to help me fight crime, fight drug abuse, stand firmly against violence and stand up for America's position in the world. When I was campaigning in 1968, I arrived at the Monmouth County Shopping Center in Eatontown -- three hours late. And I prom- ised that day that I would return to Monmouth County as President. Today, I am making good on that promise in a good cause the cause of Nelson Gross and the Republican ticket. Earlier this month you may have read or heard something about my ancestors in Ireland. There was quite a stir about them when I visited Ireland. Well, today I'd like to point out that I proudly claim
