THE PRESIDENT'S READING COPY October 12, 1971 Salute to Senator Robert Griffin (Film) I am delighted to join the people of Michigan in their birthday tribute to Senator Robert Griffin. I. Bob's fifteen years of accomplishment in the United States House and Senate have established him as one of the most articulate and able young leaders in the Nation today. (I) His wide experience as a factory worker, a teacher, a lawyer and an Army infantryman has contributed to his special insight in the areas of education, labor reform, veterans care, economics and foreign affairs. (2) Two years ago, he was elected Senate Minority Whip. I. This year Bob was reelected to that position unanimously. (I) This is an extraordinary tribute to a Senator still in his first full elected term. I. It shows how greatly Bob's Senate colleagues value his intelligence, his integrity and his leadership.
