Wholesale prices up 8% in December -- 8 times the Nov. rise
but the spurt was expected by Admin. (Stein on ABC only saying
it wasn't as bad as expected.) Inflation rate for year, however,
slowed -- but SO did nation's growth as stix were revised sharply
downward for 3Q. (Led 2 nets.) Meanwhile prime rate hits 10
year low as 2 big NYC banks reduce rate to 4 3/4%. And Dow-
Jones up over a point. (Lengthy NBC clip on inequities of tax
law -- welfare for the wealthy thanks to loopholes.)

Dispute over clearcutting finds Admin. siding with timber industry
tho CEQ wished it could have still gone along with original draft

remains an operation of last resort.

Cambodian rift; Laotian problems and ARVN's weakness in

strength will remain about same because of security needs.

11 minute lead on NBC on Indochina-related
news and over 6 minutes on CBS. None of it
gave a very rosy picture of war situation. NBC
featured conflict between ARVN and Combodians
over who is responsible for the withdrawal from
Krek which left enemy in control of the region.
Cambodians say Viets left without warning and
took artillery with them. Therefore they
