The major stories of the day:
- Julie says RN considered resigning and asked the
family's advice. "We said no because it'd have been
admission of wrongdoing, 11 said Julie. "And we felt
he's the man for the job, He had started things and
needed to finish them. 11 Julie feels RN's trust in others
caused him to fail to discover promptly something was
wrong but she said he'll be vindicated, Led ABC/NBC
and was #2 on CBS which led w/ Schorr on Silbert
status report for Cox which recommends HRH/JDE/
Mitchell/ Dean be indicted "as ringleaders in conspiracy
to obstruct justice. 11 Documentary and verbal case
against them. Prosecutors didn't deal w/ RN role the
Schorr said evidence raises questions but they're
constitutional problems re: any action against Pres.
Thus, prosecutors said by Schorr to be considering
putting material before Hill in event of impeachment
proceedings
CBS also w/ extremely positive look
at Weicker back home in Conn. for 4th
NBC noted
NY News story that Strachan/Porter will plead guilty
in coverup and implicate HRH,

Clem Stone on Today w/ very positive look
at RN's record and expression of confidence that RN and
US will come out of Watergate better than ever,
- EMK at Wallace fete in Ala calls on South to "surmount
injustices of present and division of past" in helping
restore constitutional principles he said have been
"trampled" by Admin. Seen as 1 of strongest attacks
on Admin by EMK. Also noted is his linking of name
w/ Wallace as 2 men who "don't compile lists of
enemies whose careers and lives are to be shattered
because of disagreement. " Brief ABC/CBS note that
EMK said he and Wallace agree on right of all to speak
out fearlessly.
