The major stories:

"Well, now there's another battle" over the tapes, led CBS.
Saying he'd tried repeatedly to obtain more WH materials,
Jaworski felt he could wait no longer, said ABC in #3 story.
He's been trying to get the material since January, said
NBC's #2 story as all nets told of subpoena for 64 conversations
between June 20, '72 and June 4, '73
ABC said Jaworski
foresees maximum WH delaying action and CBS said the early
move re: materials sought for Sept. trials suggests Jaworski
may expect RN to fight the subpoena to the Sup. Court. NBC's
Stern said WH is now faced w/a "particular problem" that it has
tried to avoid since July: Massive demands for tapes backed
up by full legal authority.
Jaworski move hit WH just as it's preparing to answer Judiciary
said ABC as all nets noted WH will provide some, but not all the
material the Comm. wants. It will show RN's innocence, all nets
also reported w/ABC seeing WH also seeking to help ex-aides by
not giving Judiciary evidence that could help prosecutors
CBS reported Jaworski is also hearing from Kalmbach re:
Hughes money but that Senate probers aren't convinced Rebozo
ever gave it to RMW or Don Nixon. Some feel Rebozo said
funds went to RN intimates because he wanted Kalmbach help
in replacing it.

Dem Traxler won by 59, 900 to 56, 700; 51.4% for Traxler over Sparling
Very heavy turnout in Mich election seen as referendum on gate
and RN. Film reports on all nets w/RN visit seen as stimulating
greater turnout.
In another political story of note, Brinkley said
EMK's raising of question as to whether a lib could win in '76 must
have indicated some doubts on the Senator's part. Justifiably so
in Brinkley's mind as he sees liberal tide low and falling as of now.
Kleindienst surprise witness at JNM-Stans trial as he said he
didn't recall Dean call informing him that JNM was upset by the G-J
probe. Noted by all nets; NBC/CBS w/film w/Schackne on latter
wondering whether JNM was helped as RGK wouldn't deny call
was made.
