November 8th, 1956 MACKLIN FLEMING HAROLD FRIEDMAN LEONARD H.MONROE JAMES 3.JENNINGS IN REPLY PLEASE REFER TO: JAMES S. KOSTAS Honorable Richard L. Nixon Vice President of the United States Senate Office Building Washington, D. C. Dear Dick: Even though I live on the edge of Holly- wood I have never learned or exercised the art of writing fan letters. However, as I have watched your activities in the campaign that has just closed I have been SO deeply moved that I cannot refrain from expressing to you my feelings. I attribute a substantial part of the great Republican victory to your presentation of our cause to the American people. I listened to your question and answer appearance at Cornell. Your ability in handling loaded and intricate queries astonished and delighted me. I feel that a great part of the evil and unjust criticism that had been directed against you earlier in the campaign had, before its conclusion, reacted in admiration and affection. I know you are entering a period of great and growing service to our country. May I express to you the feeling of every thoughtful American - May God bless and keep you in the great work you are doing. Sincerely, mbs 1b
