Receipt is acknowledged of your letter of the 9th
inst. We note that you have received Dr. Gilman Thompson's
report and transmitted it to Mr. McGlynn. We also note that
you have advised Mr. Veidt of recommendations made by Dr.
Thompson concerning operations at the plant and have asked
him to immediately put such recommendatior into effect.
While this is perhaps the best course to adopt, it is possible
that the fact that you have made such changes may be used
against you at the trial as an indication that the methods
previously employed by you did not afford your employees ade-
quate protection.
I note your inquiry concerning the advisability of
explaining the situation to your customers who have applica-
tion plants. I believe that it will be advisable to send a
letter of explanation to them. In fact you have a duty to
warn them of the dangers inherent in the application of the
paint sold by you if you know of such dangers. It does not
seem to me that the time is yet ripe for such a letter. I
