EUGENE A.M. PIAGET HENRY YOUNG,JR January 20, 1926. A. Roeder, President, the U. S. Radium Corporation, States 30 Church St.,New York City. Dear Mr. Roeder, Yesterday I received from Mr. McGlynn copy of a letter addressed to him by the District Claim Manager of the American Mutual Liability Insurance Company and I am enclos- ing the copy for you. You will note that this company is willing to pay $2500. in settlement of the Carlough case but that it is not willing to assume any liability for the cost or expense of the services of experts employed by your company and that it disclaims knowledge of the employment of any expert by Mr. McGlynn on its account. I had supposed that Mr. McGlynn had authorized the employment of all of the experts. I would be glad to receive your views on the subject. The amount which the insurance company is willing to pay is not as large as I had supposed but I do not think that the settlement should be delayed for that reason. It may be that the situation has become somewhat complicated by Margaret Garlough's death. If you approve of this course I will suggest to Mr. McGlynn that he take up with Mr. Kalisch the question of the amount which he is now willing to accept in settlement. Yours very truly,
