Dear Doctorst-
Enclosed herewith you will find an article entitled
*Radio Active an Industrial Hazard?", by Dr. Frederick B. Flinn,
Ph. D. Assistant Professor of Physiology in Industrial Hygiene, College
of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, which treats of the
so called "radium necrosis" or radium poisoning cases. The investigation
by Dr. Flinn, which formed the basie of his article, has boen by far the
most thorough and far reaching work undertaken on this subject. This
article vill appear in one of the early issues of the Journal of the
Amorican ledical Association.

caused the death of several girls (which charge was widely advertised
through the press a ferr months ago) is entirely unfounded, tre naturally
hesitato - witheut further investigation - to maire the broad statement
that radium in luminous meterial is unharmful, although we bolieve this
to be the case. Tecrefore, in order to be on the esfe side, we cantion
you, if you have not alrendy done 80, to order your operators not to
point their application betteen their lips.
