Dr. Herbert N. MoCoy,
1633 Hyde Park Blvd.
Chicago, Ill.
Dear Doctor MeCoy:
I have read your letter of 10th, with much interost.
You realize that we as a corporation have gone out of the
radium business, and it is net wise for us to suggest ways of selling second
hand radium. However, as an individual, here is a possibility - a Urs.
George S. Willis, of 290 Park Ave., N.Y.C. has approximately 480 milligrans
of radium in sulphate form which we sold her late husband soveral years ago.
She is naturally very anxious to dispose of this, and I spoke to her today
about the possibility of selling this in Chicago, and she is willing to put
the complete amount or any portion of it in with yours if your Doctor friend
wiahes it.
lirs. Willis has been asking $55.00 per milligram, but
since it would be probably necessary to change the sulphate to a bromide she
would no doubt be very glad to receive $50.00 a milligrem. This would give
you some leeway in dealing with your Doctor friend, and of course I assume
that you have facilities for recooking it, if not we could probably on the
change it over in our laboratories.
I certainly hope that with this arrangement you may be
able to dispose of your radium as well as that of l'rs. Willis. We have
told her that you will probably write direct.
The mesothorium situation is not entirely clarified as yet,
but I think it will only be a short while until we can start to take some of
your supply.
With personal regards to both you and l'r.s. Medoy, I am
Very truly yours,
OBLee:RH
