My dear Barker: I arrived home on schedule time despite the heavy snow storm through which we passed in going through the mountains in Pennsylvania I have not had time yet to resume normalcy. In due time, after my bill from the Chemists* Club arrives, I shall send you a statement of my expense account. On my arrival home I discovered that I had carried your stop watch with me and I shall send that back to you very soon. In the course of the week I hope to find time to make a transcript of the exneri- ments which Dr. Flunn and I conducted and I shall also send you a copy of the interpretation of some of these results, qndthe deductions we have made from them. I believe that I told you that from our experiments made at Naguatuck taken in conjunction with the previous work which you and Dr. Flynn had carried out, we were able to show that not more than 11% of the emanation produced by radium in a living subject is expelled with th ex- pired air. One question occurred to me on the way home with reference to the experiments carried on by Mrs. Hughes on the expired air of the five plaintiffs, and that is this: Do her notes include experiments on expired air conducted on normal persons, that is non-radicactive persons, that is, were blank experiments run? It would be very desireable for us to have a copy of the entire experimental data obtained by Mrs. Hughes in the course of her experiments, in order to make a careful analysis of the results. When I arrived at Swarthmore, I was disappointed not to find Jude Underwood home. He is away for a week or two to install an oxidation plant for ammonia near Pittsburg, but I had a very pleasant evening with the youngsters and Mrs. Underwood. I hope that you and Mr. Flynn will find time in the near future to conduct a few more experiments on the expired air of Mrs. Dumschoff at Waterbury.
