Wednesday, Oetober 10, 1928 e**R 3 DYING Poison Of Radium WIFE Calls Him Cruel, SUES Seeks Decree to End Torture, She Says Husband, Dazed by Action, Admits Drinking, but Denies He Wants $10,000 Awarded Her as Incurable. "Her money" is $10,000, awarded her by the United States Radium Corp. when she and four other women, former employes of the company, found they had been incurably injured by radio-active material used in manufacture of "radium-dialed" watches. Mrs. McDonald, who was too ill to appear in court, asked a limited divorce on the ground of cruelty, through her attorney, Raymond H. Berry. TO ASK CHILDREN. McDonald was asked if he would defend the action. He seemed perplexed. "Why," he said, "I understood this action was to be called off. [ talked with Quinta this morning, and she said she was not going to try to get a divorce. "And I can't afford counsel. I SUFFERING from deadly have no money. I have been out radium poison, Mrs. of work for weeks, and now I just started at $30 a week with a new Quinta McDonald charged company. husband with beating her.
