A notation, NOV 22, 1928 Let us consider a subject whose expired air conta ins 1 X 10-10 curies of radon per liter. This volume of expired air is exhaled, let us say, in 10 seconds. At this rate of transpiration what amount of radon will be ex- pired per day? Evidently the quantity of radon expired per second will be one-tenth of 1 X 10-10 curies, or 1 X 10-11, and it follows further that -11 the quantity of radon expired per minute will be 60 x 1 X 10 = 6 x 10-10 curies and per hour the value will be 60 X 6 X 1010 or 3.6 x 10-8 curies, and per day, the quantity is 24 x 3.6 x 10-8 = 8.6 x 10-7 = 0.86 micro- grams.
